THERE IS A VERY IMPORTANT NEED FOR STEM EDUCATION IN RURAL SCHOOLS

Be a Part of Something Great -Support our mission to promote education, gender equality, and youth development in Nigeria

Primary and Secondary schools in rural and hard-to-reach communities where we serve in Nigeria have an average of 13462 students of which 5780 are science students and 42.93% of the general number of students. Our research found out that about 43% of the science students switch over to social sciences in their SS2 class 38% drop out of school, the assessment scores and performance of the remaining 19% are very poor as their ambition to have a future in the STEM industry is hindered by poverty and lack of training needed to improve performance over time. If these students are not given the opportunity to improve their performance and skills in STEM, as study shows, it will come to a point when there will be a high level of apathy towards STEM subjects which could result in an extreme shortage of needed STEM skills in the future workforce. From a future lens, with technology trends influencing the workplace of the future, these students might find themselves highly unemployable.
